Do You Know Manchester? Summer Sports Edition

Living in Manchester New Hampshire is great for so many reasons.  One of the best things is that our summer months are spectacular to be out of doors.  There are many opportunities to enjoy sports in this part of the state and there are even greater opportunities just an hour south in Boston

Summer Spectator Sports

Summer time in New England means it’s baseball season! There are lots of great ways to enjoy America’s favorite past time.  Some of them are traditional with historic value, and some are new ways that are more affordable and local than the big-league ball parks.

Obviously living in NH, the big draw is the professional baseball team -The Boston Red Sox. They play at historic Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts. Watching this team offers a fan with a passion & love for the game a chance to see the big-league players up close and personal.  Fenway is an iconic park and seating gets you close to the players.   I remember being on the third base lines once and being able to hear the short stop whistling to himself between pitches.  If you can go early to a game be sure to take in a tour of the park too.

If you can’t get to Fenway, there are also some great semi-professional baseball teams that are much more affordable and closer to us in Manchester,  NH. Offering the feel of the big leagues without the big price would be the NH Fisher Cats. Playing at North East Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester NH, the Fisher cats are a semi-professional baseball team that is affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays of MLB. Game tickets and concessions are much more affordable compared to Fenway Park in Boston, and they even offer special nights for group outings & deals for fan appreciation! The ball park is new and beautiful and is a great place to see a game with family & friends. When they play the Portland Maine Sea Dogs expect a sold out crowd.

Want to try another venue for baseball?  Then you may be interested in the Nashua Silver Knights. Playing out of historic Holman Stadium in Nashua NH, the Silver Knights are a college prep team highlighting and providing exposure to the next level of up and coming local youth baseball players. Silver Knight Games are affordable and provide you an opportunity to watch rising stars up close as they begin their journey to the pros!
