Pantone executives state that this color communicates originality and vision for the future. Purple tones are often used in meditation spheres to encourage relaxation and spirituality.
“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a press release. “From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.” Eiseman said the hue suggests the mysteries of the cosmos as well as the intrigue of the future. Its evocation of the night also symbolizes what is possible beyond our own world.
