Late Fall Foliage is Shining Brightly!

The Red Oak Reporter was in the Lake Sunapee region this past weekend.  You will all be happy to know that the fall colors are still showing brightly!  Worried that you may be too late to view the fall foliage.  Don't worry there is still plenty to see.  In fact, the late fall foliage is spectacular!

Visit Mt Kearsarge in NH

If you are looking for an easy way to view large scenic vistas, I suggest you take a short ride to Wilmot NH and visit the Winslow State Park.  The fee is $4.00 to enter this lovely park. This state park is located on Mt. Kearsarge Rd.  The picnic area and playground facilities are beautiful. You can access the 1 mile long trail to hike to the top of Mt Kearsarge from this point.  The hike is a bit steep but the views from the top are amazing.  You will definitely see lots of foliage on this short hike.  On your drive to the State Park you might like to stop at the Historic Carr Burial Grounds.  This small graveyard has many pre-civil war headstones.  There are many picnic areas to stop at along the way on this trip.  Pack a lunch and enjoy.

Stop for a Pint at the Flying Goose Brewery

If you want a treat, we suggest a trip to nearby New London to the Flying Goose Brew Pub!  The beer is made right on site at this rustic and comfortable pub.  Ask for a table on the porch to enjoy the fall colors.  A sampler of their beer will give you a good feel for what they produce.  We love the Long Brothers American IPA.  Food is reasonably priced here and there is a large selection of salads, sandwiches and burgers.
