Four ice cream cones

Manchester Area Ice Cream Shops

The Goldenrod Restaurant is located on Candia Road and was established in 1951. It is open year round for take out and ice cream.  It is a staple among the ice cream shops in Manchester. Their fried seafood is always fresh and delicious so why not go for dinner and enjoy ice cream for dessert.  The window service is excellent and the rotation of flavors is abundant. They have over 37 flavors of  ice cream, sherbert and frozen yogurt here.   We love the drive out to this location and the 50’s drive-in vibe that it reminds us of.

The Puritan Backroom on Hooksett Road not only has the most amazing chicken fingers, but it is also known for its great ice cream. The Puritan opened its doors in 1917 and has been going strong ever since.  The take out window on the front of the building is the place to go for delicious ice cream cones and sundaes. All the ice cream is made in house and includes a constantly revolving menu of flavors.  We recommend the Almond Coconut Chip.  The Puritan is open year round.

Cremeland Drive-In at 250 Valley Street is another of Manchester’s premier ice cream spots. It is open from March thru October.  To some, this is the only place to go when it comes to ice cream! Many folks consider the opening of Cremeland the first sign of spring in the city.  Soft serve and hard ice cream flavors are available. You can also enjoy sandwiches, lobster rolls and friend seafood.

Milford New Hampshire is home to many great eateries and ice cream shops.  Check out the best places in Milford for an ice cream fix.

Hayward’s Ice Cream on Elm Street in Milford is the place to be in the spring if you live in Milford! Hayward’s in Milford opened its doors in 2001 after the closing of Hayward Farms which was a working dairy farm. The owners of this shop are third generation and keep the great ice cream traditions going.  They make their own ice cream and have a lot of flavors.

Located just a short drive from Milford, try the Drive up Food Truck on Rte 101 in Amherst called Tastee Kone.  This roadside haven is open from late April to late September for soft serve ice cream, sandwiches and fat free frozen yogurt.  We love the many toppings you can add on to your cone or yogurt.

Ice cream treat

Concord Area Ice Cream Shops

Concord New Hampshire is home to many great eateries and ice cream shops.  Check out the best places in the Concord area for an ice cream treat.

Arnie’s Place on Loudon Road has the best ice cream and food! Try thier famous BBQ, burgers and hot dogs before sampling an ice cream treat.  You can order an ice cream cake to go when you visit.  Arnie’s has a long tradition of fund raising for charities in the Concord area.  Every weekend they host car washes that benefit many charities.  They love giving back to the community.

Located at 510 Pembroke St, Lang’s in Pembroke, just outside of Concord, is another fabulous option for picking up an affordable ice cream cone. Lang’s has some amazing views while you enjoy your treat.  They are open seasonally during the warm months and open in December for holiday tree sales.  This family owned business has been serving delicious treats for many years.

Large bowl of soft serve ice cream

Derry Area Ice Cream Shops

For Over 14 years Moo’s Place, homemade ice cream on Crystal Ave has been voted one of the best places for ice cream in Derry.  Their many flavors change throughout the season.  Try one of their flavored slushes or a banana split.  They cater ice cream parties too.

Want a little activity with your ice cream?  We love Pete’s Scoops located on Rockingham Road in Derry because we can have a cool treat and go to the golf driving range at the same time.  The driving range has 23 mats for practice. With over 67 flavors including Italian Ice, Frozen yogurt and Richardson’s Ice Cream.   You can’t go wrong here for a great time and a delicious cool cone.

Cone of vanilla ice cream

Merrimack Area Ice Cream Shops

Every Wednesday night is a sight to see at Axel’s Food and Ice Cream on the Daniel Webster Highway.  That’s because it’s Cruise Night.  Visit on this night throughout the summer and see many classic cars.  The car owners love to talk about their “babies” and will offer their insights into owning a classic car.  The food and ice cream at Axels is special too.  They have a large variety of flavors and toppings.  They offer hard and soft serve flavors as well as sugar and carb free ice cream.  They even offer gluten-free ice cream. People are talking about Axel’s and can only say good things!

Another favorite in south Merrimack is King Cone. Their soft serve ice cream is always popular!  The ice cream stand is simple and flavor choices are not as varied as some other ice cream stands but we promise you will love the old time feeling of visiting this classic ice cream stand.  This is located on the Nashua line and we love to get our cones to go and drive about 4 miles to Nashua’s Greely Park to eat them.  This park has a large playground, adult glider swings and beautiful grounds.

Haywards Ice Cream has a location in South Merrimack too.  You can enjoy a cone out on their picnic tables or take it to go and enjoy the nearby parks in the center of town. This family owned company has been making ice cream since 1940.  They have locations in Nashua, Milford and Merrimack.
