Ski in New Hampshire

It's Time to Ski in New Hampshire.

One of the great things about living in New Hampshire is the chance to enjoy all four seasons of the year.  Now we do recognize that sometimes a bitter cold snap can be tough to take, but for those who like the activities that can only happen in winter it is a time to enjoy this frosty time of year.

At Red Oak Apartments we are big fans of winter skiing.  Our owner, Ron Dupont is an avid skier and loves the slopes of the many ski areas in New Hampshire.  If you see him ask him about his favorite run in the state.  Hint:  It's in Crawford Notch.

Our Favorite Picks For Winter Skiing

At Cannon Mountain the expert crew is in full force all season grooming and blowing snow to create the best of conditions.

The snow guns are running at full tilt whenever the weather allows.

Cannon is always a great place to ski. The trails are winding and steep and many are narrow. It feels like the good old days of skiing. Want a more family friendly trip down the slopes? Then the Peabody side of the mountain is what you will like. These slopes are wide and gentle.

When weather permits you can ski to the Mittersill side of the mountain too. Don't miss out on this!!!

NH residents can get a discount on season's tickets if they are purchased early in December each year.

Visit Loon Mountain for what we believe are the best conditions in the state because of the expert snowmaking.   A variety of trails at all levels is what sets Loon apart too.  Try the gondola early in the morning before the lift lines get too long.  Loon has a policy that restricts the number of tickets sold each day.  This helps to prevent the crowds from getting too big.  We still recommend getting on the slopes when the corduroy is fresh and the crowds are thinner. Loon has an expanded area that allows you to ski right into the town of Lincoln.  We love to ski down and grab lunch at one of the pubs in town and then head back to the mountain for more slope time.

Ski in Your Back Yard (Almost)

There are many other ski areas to choose from in NH.

You can even stay right in Manchester, NH for our own McIntyre Mountain.

This local mountain, or more appropriately a hill, offers beginner lessons, ski tubing and race training for skiers of all ages. There are many school groups that enjoy this location.  Many people in Manchester can say they learned to ski at McIntyre.   This is very close to Red Oak's Sunset Ridge Apartments.  You could be on the slopes in no time if you lived here.

Cross Country Skiing

Downhill skiing not your thing?  That's okay because we have several Nordic skiing centers in NH too.  We love the trails at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, NH.   These trails are well groomed and not very far from our Timberlake Apartments in Laconia, NH.  With over 50 Km of trails and snowshoe tracks you will have plenty of plces to enjoy the outdoors.  Season pass holders earn discounts too.  We think the best Cross Country skiing is located at the Jackson Ski Touring Center in Jackson, NH.  This center has a wonderful array of trails, lessons and group ski activities.  The instruction is given by top rated instructors and are a great way to enjoy the sport with little effort.
